We’re thrilled to have just received the much-anticipated ‘Antique Collection’, from the Buffalo Trace Distillery.  Consisting of five limited-release, small run whiskeys, this annual offering has achieved cult status amongst whiskey collectors and connoisseurs.  A variety of ages, proofs and recipes, the assortment includes the following…

Sazerac Rye 18 YR

According to the Malt Advocate, there is “no rye whiskey on the market that is as old or perfectly balanced as this one,” noting that “for those of you who can’t get enough flavors and intensity in your whiskey, your search has ended.”  (28 hand selected barrels, 90 proof)

Eagle Rare 17 YR

Widely viewed as ‘far greater’ than the 10 YR and 15 YR releases, this burnished gold 17 YR has a big body, with a “very leathery and very long finish”.  This bottling recently received a 96 rating from Wine Enthusiast. (23 taste selected barrels, 90 proof)

George T. Stagg 15 YR

“An extremely hearty whiskey”, this release is straight from the barrel, uncut and unfiltered, making for an intense and powerful drinking experience.  This release is unique in that it is both barrel strength and well aged, having spent fifteen years maturing. (118 hand selected barrels, 142.8 proof)

William Larue Weller 12 YR

This uncut, unfiltered bourbon is “alive with scents of caramel, corn, new leather, oak, pepper, plums, tobacco, toffee”, making for an astoundingly rich palate entry, with a delicious finish.  This is another offering that is rare for being barrel proof yet also well aged, a scarcity in the current marketplace. (49 hand picked barrels ,123.4 proof)

Thomas H Handy Sazerac Rye 6 YR

Another uncut, unfiltered offering, this straight rye whiskey is extremely crisp.  Previous releases – 2009, 2011 – have been named “Rye Whiskey of the Year” by the Whiskey Bible. (47 hand picked barrels, 132.4 proof)
