L&E Flights

We tasted barrel after barrel of bourbon looking for our favorites. Once we found the best, we bottled it up and brought it back to Logan Square. Please enjoy these fine whiskeys hand selected by Longman & Eagle.

"It's All About The Barrel" Flight 14
Follow this whiskey on its path from white corn whiskey into 10 year old bourbon. All three of these whiskeys use the same traditional bourbon mash bill of mostly corn, finished with some rye and malted barley. Here we see the whiskey at different points in its aging, from white dog, to 4 years old, and finally culminating in 10 year old single barrel bourbon.

—Buffalo Trace White Dog Mash #1
—Benchmark Bourbon
—Eagle Rare 10yr

“It’s All About The Grain” Flight 16
These farm focused distillers are revolutionizing the way we think about grain varietals in whiskey production by highlighting locally grown heirloom grains as a major factor in whiskey production.

—A.D. Laws Four Grain Bourbon Batch #1
—Far North Roknar Rye
—J. Henry & Sons Cask Strength Bourbon

The Whiskey Thief  2
Like drilling into a barrel and pulling a dram straight from the barrel these offerings are all un-cut. This flight will lead you through a standard Recipe Rye Bourbon, a Wheated Bourbon, and a Straight Rye- but beware- this flight is not for the faint-hearted.

—Stagg Jr. Barrel Proof
—Maker’s Mark Cask Strength
—Michter’s Barrel Strength Rye

Rolling With The Homies... 18
We have picked out a lot of barrels for Longman, but every once in a while, we get the honor of joining some of our friends in the industry to taste some amazing whiskey and share some of their picks as well. Here's a few of our current favorites.

—George Dickel 9yr Private Selection "Wiggity Wack Daniels"
—High West Rendezvous Rye Land & Sea Dept
—J. Henry & Sons Cask Strength CCR, Game Room

Pappy Van Who?  25
When Julian "Pappy" Van Winkle acquired the "Old Fitzgerald" brand, he successfully turned it into one of the best selling bourbon brands in America. When the Van Winkle family had to sell off their interest in the Stitzel-Weller distillery, which produced the famous brand, they held onto one label, Old Rip Van Winkle. It is produced in partnership with the Buffalo Trace distillery to this date.

—Old Fitzgerald Bonded
—Old Rip Van Winkle 107
—Van Winkle "Lot B" 12yr

Rye Not?  21
Rye whiskey was the prevalent whiskey of the northeastern states, especially Pennsylvania and Maryland, but largely disappeared after Prohibition. In the United States, "rye whiskey" is, by law, made from a mash of at least 51 percent rye.

—Sazerac Rye
—Old Maysville Club Malted Rye
—Whistle Pig 10yr

Vertical Handy 45
We’ve been lucky enough to hang on to a few bottles of the very limited Thomas H. Handy Rye over the last few years {we’re hoarders, I know, it’s a problem, we’re working on it}. This is an annual release that is bottled uncut and unfiltered so each bottling should have a noticeably different taste.

—Thomas H Handy 2013
—Thomas H Handy 2016

Ichiro’s Flight 50
Leading the charge in the craft distilling movement currently taking place in Japan, Ichiro got his start selling limited inventory of highly sought after whiskey from the defunct Hanyu distillery run by his grandfather.
